how.do.you.define.peace

A few weeks ago the lovely Gina of Contemplating Beauty asked me to share my thoughts on peace. I wanted to share it with you here today too.

"How do you define peace?"

Peace is having an unshakable committed heart of faith and hope no matter what is going on in your life.

"What is peace to you?"

Peace to me is knowing that no matter what, God wants to take care of me. Peace is knowing that God can take anything that He has blessed me with away and I would still love and trust Him. I would still have hope in my spirit.
When you can walk through your days on top of all the distractions, all the obstacles, all the circumstance, then you are walking in peace because nothing has any power to take that peace away from you. The peace is not dependent on anything. Living in this world, but not of this world literally.
I used to think peace is just a time of quiet or a time when everything is going good. Real peace is carrying that settled, calm, relaxed spirit in the midst of any situation. It’s empowering to know we have the ability to live in a constant state of peace because we have the Spirit of God inside of us.

  1. First of all, I love, love, love Gina. WHat a special girl! Second, I totally agree with you and your definition of peace. No matter what is thrown our way, relying on God inside of us... that is the key. My "life" isn't peaceful with 2 kids/a job/ a home/ kid activities but with Christ in me... I can do all things and that makes life peaceful. Love your post. :)

  4. Such a good word. The world sees peace as the absence of something: war, famine, heartache, etc. But for us, the children of God, peace is being full of the Spirit and the knowledge of Him!!

    Have a lovely Monday!!

  11. Ashley your writing is not only beautiful but so Scripturally sound, the Spirit in me gets excited every time I read it! I LOVE that you closed this post with the realization that it is the Spirit inside us that allows us to experience this kind of unconditional peace. God's gift of His Spirit to those who believe is AMAZING and nothing in this world can take it from us. Thank you for writing this. I needed to read it and be reminded of God's goodness.
